Aspiral Learning have a range of training solutions so we can work with you to identify the best one to suit your needs. Our Apprenticeship pages and Course Catalogue list the standard courses we have available but we can also arrange bespoke training in many areas too; please get in touch if you can’t find what you're looking for.

Typically, the training we offer will fall into one of the following categories:

  • Vocational Qualifications (like NVQs or Certificates), delivered and assessed in the workplaceDistance Learning qualifications, so you can decide how and where you study
  • Professional courses, to achieve a recognised professional status
  • Bespoke training

The paragraphs below give a summary of each type of training:

Vocational Qualifications: NVQs, Certificates & Diplomas

Vocational Qualifications are designed by industry for industry; they will be based on national occupational standards for a particular sector and the Awarding Body will have consulted with employers and/or the Sector Skills Council to ensure they are up-to-date.

Vocational Qualifications, especially NVQs (National Vocational Qualifications), are often designed to be completed in the workplace.  They are assessed through practical assignments and by gathering examples of your work. A qualified assessor will test your knowledge and understanding as well as your actual performance.

NVQ stands for National Vocational Qualification. It is a 'competence-based' qualification which means you complete practical, work-related tasks designed to help you develop the skills and knowledge to do your job effectively.

Completing a vocational qualification can lead to further training at the next level. You could go all the way to a level 5 and/or professional qualifications, usually in a related area. If you've studied at level 3, for example, you could also go on to a higher education course in a related vocational area, such as a Higher National Certificate, Higher National Diploma or a Foundation Degree.

Please see our Course Catalogue for details of all our Vocational Qualifications.

Distance Learning Qualifications

Distance Learning courses mean you can choose, how, when and where you study while getting all the support and guidance that would be available if you were actually coming in to classes.

Most courses can start at any time during the year and we will agree an expected completion date for you to work towards.

Please see our Course Catalogue for details of the Distance Learning courses we have available.

Funding Support

Many of the courses we deliver attract full or part funding from the Government, making them free or a reduced price for individuals and employers.

We can let you know where this funding is available but the bullet points below summarise the key areas:

Full funding is often available for:

  • some industry-specific qualifications
  • Functional Skills (English and Maths) at all levels
  • Apprenticeships for 16-18 year olds
  • an individual’s first Level 2 qualification
  • an individual’s first Level 3 qualification if they are aged 19-25 year and don’t have Level 2 qualifications

Partial funding is available for the following qualifications; we would usually expect the employer (not the individual) to fund the balance:

Please note that government funding availability and criteria does change occasionally and we do our best to keep this webpage up-to-date; please contact us for further advice or details.
