You will get the chance to work in our modern training kitchens and serve food in The Restaurant at BCoT, which is open to the public. We will arrange visits to a range of hotels, which could include the Four Seasons, Hampshire Court, Apollo, Lainston House and Penny Hill Park, so you can see ‘behind the scenes’ in these prestigious organisations. There is at least one trip abroad, such as to France to visit wine cellars and markets in Paris. Our catering students are contracted to provide civic hospitality for the Mayor of Basingstoke. Many of our former students are building successful careers as Head Chefs or Restaurant Owners.

Alex completed his Level 3 course with distinction and secured his first job in a front of house role at The Plough Inn in Longparish, before moving on to The Bluebird Café in Chelsea.
"The journey has been amazing,” said Alex. “I have developed a wide range of skills, from basic time management to understanding how the restaurant industry works inside and out.”
Alex recently returned to The Restaurant at BCoT for a Guest Chef evening to support his boss, Chef James Durrant. James is a former employee of celebrity chef Gordon Ramsey and took Alex with him on his recent move from Hampshire to London.
Alex has found his transition into industry challenging but rewarding.
“It’s taught me a lot and hopefully brought me closer to my ultimate dream of owning my own restaurant eventually, although between now and then I’d love to work as a fine dining restaurant manager in London.”
