Former BCoT student Jordan Garwood has secured his dream job thanks to a working collaboration between the College and his employer, Face TV.
Jordan studied Level 3 Creative Media Production now works for Face TV as a camera operator and video editor.
“I’ve had a real interest in media and camera work for a long time and knew this was the industry I wanted to work in,” he said. “I remember coming along to a BCoT Open Day whilst I was at school and talking to the Media lecturers. They were so enthusiastic about their subject and it seemed like such an exciting career to get into!”
It was during his first year at college that the working relationship between BCoT and Face TV was established. Scott Hayden, Creative Media lecturer, explained how the link came about:
“We strive to give learners industry standard work to support their classroom studies. Face TV are a local Production Company that have teamed up with us to create content for the brand new Freeview channel 'That's Basingstoke'.
Looking back at his transition from college to work, Jordan has nothing but praise for BCoT.
“College not only taught me the relevant skills needed for the industry, it also gave me the chance to experience real life working on the Face TV project. If it hadn’t been for BCoT and my lecturer, Scott, I would not have had this fantastic opportunity. I’m now doing something I really enjoy and am passionate about.”
