Free Tasters in Art & Design

Access to HE

Aimed at anyone 19+ wanting to try out an exciting range of different Art & Design workshops for the first time or to extend previous skills. All of the workshops will be facilitated by a practising artist or designer who will give guidance and support throughout.

These sessions will begin after Easter and will include the following options. You can choose to do either morning or afternoon, or both!

Morning 10–12 noon

Afternoon 1–3pm

April 28th - Ceramics

An introduction to ceramics. Have a chance to try the potter’s wheel and hand build with clay

Textiles

Have a go at using the heat press to transfer images and patterns onto fabric

May 5th - Fused Glass

Learn the basics of glass cutting to create decorative glasswork

Weaving

Introduction into using weave on a table loom to produce a variety of samples using textured yarns.

May 12th - Beginners painting & drawing

Try a session in our drawing studios working with an artist

Photography

Working in the darkroom to produce photograms using tinting and toning

May 19th - Printmaking

Monoprinting and collagraphs using a range of mark making tools and the printing press

Fashion

This workshop is aimed at those wanting to try modelling on the stand, using fabric   or paper to develop innovative silhouettes

These sessions will allow you to experiment in lots of different ways and could lead to entry onto our Access in Art & Design Course.

All materials are provided, just wear appropriate clothing
