George Batho
George Batho

Born and brought up in Hampshire, George lives on the South Coast near Southampton. He has over 30 years' experience in Human Resources management and for the last seven years has been employed as HR Director for Linde Material Handling (UK) Ltd in Basingstoke.

George became a Governor at BCoT in 2006, has served on several committees and is a past Vice Chair of Governors.

David Birksdavid birks

David retired in 2016 as the Dean of the Faculty of Business, Law and Sport and Director of Winchester Business School at the University of Winchester. Prior to working at Winchester, David worked at the Universities of Southampton, Bath and Strathclyde. He has over 30 years' experience in universities, primarily working on postgraduate research, marketing, management and design programmes. David is co-author of Europe’s leading Marketing Research text: Malhotra, N.K., Birks, D.F. and Wills, P., Marketing Research, An Applied Orientation, 4th European Edition, Pearson, 2012. David has continued to practice marketing research throughout his university career, managing projects in financial institutions, retailers, local authorities and charities.

Anthony Bravo (Principal and Chief Executive)Anthony Bravo

Anthony was appointed Principal of BCoT in 2009. He qualified as a teacher at Newcastle University, after gaining a degree in Agriculture and Environmental Science. Education has always been his passion, although he loved working in the private sector and became the first graduate management trainee at Marks & Spencer's flagship Marble Arch store.

Anthony re-entered the education sector some 20 years ago and remained for 15 of those years in an FE environment, focusing particularly on partnership, community, income generation and most recently workforce development. In July 2003, he was appointed to set up Crossways Academy, Lewisham which became a CISCO world reference site for use of ICT in education, as well as providing a template for integrated smart building technology.

Anthony is also pleased to serve as a Governor for Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, representing North Hampshire and West Berkshire.

Simon Burrell Simon Burrell

Simon is Clerk to the Corporation.



Charles CardiffCharles Cardiff

Charles' working life was in the international banknote industry (print and paper) with experience in most functions including at board level. On retirement he formed his own consultancy business.

Charles was a parish councillor (including Chairman) for many years and is now involved in local voluntary work. His commitment to BCoT goes back more than 20 years during which time he has been Chair of Governors and sat on many advisory and sub-committees.


Steve Fussey

Steve Fussey

Steve qualified as a Quantity Surveyorand prior to retirement spent the last 32 years of his career working in various roles for AWE, managing sites and facilities and culminating in a position of the board of Directors as the Infrastructure Director

Outside of work, Steve enjoys music, walking and working as an occasional radio broadcaster, he has been a Director of two local radio stations and a local newspaper in the past and is also a Trustee Director of a large Pension Fund.

Lynne George (Chair)
Lynne George

Lynne has been a Governor at BCoT for 8 years and Chair of Governors since 2009. She has lived in Hampshire for 25 years and is an Accountant by profession.

Lynne's entire working life was in Local Government, latterly at Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council where she was Head of Financial Services until her retirement in 2006. Lynne feels that this experience therefore gives her a good understanding of the area that BCoT serves. Lynne's public sector and financial experience have been invaluable in enabling her to carry out her role as Governor and Chair, and to be a supportive "critical friend" to the Senior Management Team.

Harley is a Student Representative, she is doing a Level 3 Diploma in Animal Management.


Mike Howe (Vice Chair)

Mike Howe

Mike is former Joint Managing Director of Stannah Stairlifts Ltd and was a Director of Basingstoke Engineering Training Association (BETA), which was absorbed into BCoT in 2006.

Originally trained as an Engineer, Mike's link area at BCoT is Business and Apprenticeships which, he feels strongly, are both aspects key in the development of our region.

Neale KillickNeale Killick

Having studied engineering at BCoT, Neale's career has focussed on ICT systems, moving from technical sales and project support to the head of an infrastructure team.

Neale is now Director of his own business, N2N Solutions Ltd, offering IT consultancy and support to small and medium-sized companies. Having once been a student here, Neale brings a useful perspective to his Governor role.

Gary Livingstone
Gary Livingstone

Gary is proud to have gone from school to Apprenticeship to successful engineering businesses, all in sunny Basingstoke. He has over 25 years’ experience of technology-based engineering including as Managing Director of LG Motion and MiniTec through start-up and continued expansion plans.

At a local level, Gary is a season ticket holder of Basingstoke Town Football Club and plays Table Tennis in Division One of the Basingstoke League.

Gareth Moores
Gareth Moores

Gareth is Deputy Head Teacher at Aldworth School in Basingstoke, where he has worked since 2005. His teaching specialism is Science and Gareth completed his Master’s in Education Leadership and Management in 2005.

Gareth brings this experience of the secondary education sector to his role as a BCoT Governor.


Martin Slatford                                                                     

Martin Slatford

Martin graduated in Botany from the University of Hull and, since then, has enjoyed a varied career that has included roles in technical sales, office management and finance; he also went on to complete his MBA.

As well as being a BCoT Governor, Martin is also currently Chairman of Baughurst Parish Council. He enjoys community activities, including sitting on the Village Hall Committee and being an active member of the Loddon Valley Lions Club.

Mike Wilkinson

Mike joined Southampton Solent University in August 2010 and is Deputy Vice-Chancellor (External Engagement) and Professor of International Education. He is responsible for international matters; marketing; partnerships; reputation; student experience; student recruitment; Solent Futures (employability and enterprise) and Solent Sport. He also represents the University as a Trustee of Sport Solent in the Community.

Mike is a Visiting Professor at the National Academy of Education Administration, Beijing, China and also at the Shanghai Institute of Design. His research interests include widening participation in higher education and leadership. Mike is a member of the Southampton Business Board of Hampshire Chamber of Commerce and is a Fellow of the Institute of Directors and a Chartered Director. 


Pamela WoolgrovePamela Woolgrove

Pamela has a background in business and has been a BCoT Governor for several years. She Chairs the Search Committee and serves as a member of the Audit and Remuneration Committees.
