Course Overview

The CIPD Foundation level qualification is perfect if you want to acquire a wide range of relevant practical skills in HR. Who are foundation level qualifications for? Those:

  • who are aspiring to, or embarking on, a career in HR
  • who are working in the field of HR in a support role and wish to develop their knowledge and skills
  • who have the responsibility for HR activities and decisions within an organisation without a specialist function

Course Content

Subjects covered include:

Unit 1 - Understanding organisations and the role of HR

Unit 2 - Developing yourself as an effective HR practitioner

Unit 3 - Recording, analysing and using HR information

Unit 4 - Resourcing talent

Unit 5 - Delivering learning and development activities

Unit 6 - Supporting good practice in performance and reward management


You will be required to complete all six assignments to gain the qualification.

Entry Requirement

Applicants ideally must have 5 GCSE's or relevant work experience in HR. It is a requirement that each candidate has become a member of CIPD within four weeks after the start of the course. 80% attendance is required.


Six assignments to complete together with some practical observations and team work. You are encouraged to have a workplace mentor to help you apply the knowledge gained on the programme to your work situation.

Where does this course lead to

Successful completion of this course will enable you to progress to CIPD Intermediate Certificate in Human Resource Management.
