Course Overview

This free training programme run by Basingstoke College of Technology offers you the chance to gain valuable skills and relevant qualifications for employment to work within childcare. As part of the course, you will have the chance to gain a wide range of employment skills training alongside studying to achieve a nationally recognised NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Caring for Children and Young People qualification.

Course Content

The qualification will provide you with the essential knowledge that is required to work in the childcare industry covering topics such as child development, the value of play, safeguarding, child welfare, learning support and government legislation. Working in a small group session, individual needs will be identified and skills will be developed in a friendly and mature environment.

The skills and qualifications gained upon completion of this course will enable you to pursue a career within childcare, with the opportunity to further your knowledge through additional training.

You will also achieve an Emergency Paediatric First Aid certificate.

Assessment

All individuals will need to complete our BCoT enrolment paperwork before beginning the course. English & maths initial assessments are included within this process to assess your current working level. You work towards the qualification will be marked and quality assessed before a certificate is produced.
