Results information and enrolment

Information about results, enrolment and induction.

Still feeling undecided on your next steps after school?

We are offering drop-in sessions open to all as an opportunity to discuss options with our Careers team. Drop-ins are running all day from Tuesday 24 August to Friday 3 September.

Enrolment and induction

From 23 to 31 August, all students are expected to attend College in person to enrol. You will have received your enrolment appointment slot by email with information about what you will need.

For new students starting in September, when you come in to enrol you will meet the curriculum teams and discuss and agree your course choice, as well as any English and maths resits required and any support need you may have. You will also collect your student ID badge which you will need to gain access into the College, and for registration purposes, and you will given the start date and time for your course.

You must bring with you the following documents as you will not be able to enrol without them:

  • Your GCSE certificates or results slips
  • Proof of who you are (passport, birth certificate or similar)
  • If you have one, a smartphone or tablet to enable you to electronically sign your learning agreement
  • If you have told us about a support need or medical condition then bring any relevant documents

Induction and late enrolment will take place from 1 to 3 September.

Results

As you are aware, we have experienced an unusual year and, in some cases, the process of students receiving their results is different.

For courses that have Teacher Assessed Grades, your results will be available on the Dashboard:

  • Level 3 courses - 10 August 2021
  • Level 2 courses (including English and maths GCSE) - 12 August 2021

Appeal

  • If you think your grade is wrong, first ask your tutor to check whether they have made a mistake in deciding or sending in your grade.
  • If they find a mistake, they can send a new grade to the exam board. The exam board will then decide what to do.
  • If they do not find a mistake but you still believe that your grade is wrong, you can ask the College to make an ‘appeal’ to the exam board for you.

You can challenge your grade for these reasons:

  • the College did not follow its policy when it decided your grade.
  • the College made an unreasonable decision when deciding which tests or pieces of work to use to decide your grade.
  • the College made an unreasonable decision about what grade you should get for the work used to decide your grade.

If you feel that there is justification to appeal the result from the Teacher Assessed Grade process please email appeals@bcot.ac.uk

Guidance for Appeals

A guide to appeals processes Summer 2021 series (You can find an optional student request form for appeals in Appendix B on page 31.)

If you have any questions about your results, which do not involve an appeal, please contact your course tutor in the first instance. If any support is required, please email the Careers team at careers@bcot.ac.uk

Certificates

GCSE certificates will be available from the end of October.  Other certificates will be received on an ad hoc basis from the awarding bodies.  You will receive an email to notify you when they are ready for collection - please ensure your contact details are up to date.  If you have not received a message by the end November or you need your certificates urgently, please contact the Exams Office at examinations@bcot.ac.uk
