On this course, you will be making things from day one. Whether you want to explore concept art, character design, fashion, graphic design, illustration, animation, 3D modelling, environment design, product design, ceramics, model-making, traditional fine art painting and figure drawing, textile design or photography, you can do it here.
We have excellent facilities both traditional and digital that will allow you to produce a wide range of high-end work.
You can explore drawing & sculpture, both traditional and digital. You will be introduced to a wide range of 3D and 2D techniques. We will encourage you to explore different ways of drawing including expressive mark-making, technical drawing and digital techniques in a variety of sizes. You can learn about different 3D construction techniques to create your own sculptures along with the opportunity to explore ceramics, glass and metalwork using our 3D studio.
For fashion, you can take existing clothing that you will adapt and manipulate using a range of textile construction techniques. You will learn how to design for different body shapes and purposes taking your ideas from initial designs and illustrations to completed garments. You can also use practical pattern-making to create structural high-end garments in both digital and physical form using industry-standard software.
If advertising or photography is your thing, you can use our DSLR cameras to extend your photography knowledge, looking at different photographic compositions and lighting techniques. You can use Photoshop to edit your images and also combine them with typography, explore graphic layouts, colour schemes and different applications for graphic design and advertising images.
For printmaking, you can work in our specialist print studio to learn a range of printmaking techniques for both fabric and paper including screen printing, lino, etching and heat pressing.
At the end of each year, you will complete a final project that will allow you to choose the discipline that you want to work in based on what you have done throughout the year. You will research artists and designers and techniques from your chosen area and produce a final piece that will be displayed in our end-of-year exhibition.
