Course Introduction

During this 2-year programme, students will learn the core knowledge and skills that are needed for entry to a range of digital occupations and underpin their knowledge with a 9 week placement in industry. Following this course students will be prepared for occupations such as: software developer, web developer, computer games developer, mobile app developer, UX (user experience) designer and software test engineer. Students can also progress into higher level apprenticeships or a degree level course upon completion.

During this course, learners will develop an understanding of: 
  • Using data in software design
  • Using technology to analyse and solve problems
  • Legal, regulatory and moral implications of technology
  • Using physical, virtual and cloud environments
  • Emerging technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Augmented Reality (AR) and Blockchain
  • Internet security
  • Digital project planning as well as software design, development, testing, maintenance and support
T Levels are a post-GCSE option. To qualify, you'll need:
  • Five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English and maths.
  • Successful completion of the Level 2 Information and Creative Technology Certificate.
  • To be aged between 16-18 at the start of the qualification.
Assessment is through a range of methods including two exams, an employer set project, and externally set assignment.
Successful completion of this course opens up a variety of exciting progression pathways for your future including higher education, a related apprenticeship or employment.
