Course Overview

Skills Bootcamps are flexible programmes of up to 16 weeks, giving individuals the opportunity to develop skills and fast-track to an interview with an employer.

These are being developed as part of the Lifetime Skills Guarantee, by the UK Government, in partnership with employers, providers and local authorities. This will help people to develop skills that are in demand within our local area and get a better job or more responsibilities within a current role. Here at Basingstoke College of Technology, we are offering a wide range of options to meet your needs.

This Skills Bootcamp is provided over 16 weeks and will run on a Wednesday and Friday morning totalling 6 hours and 15 minutes per week. This Skills Bootcamp is designed for anyone who may provide first-line cyber security support. This requires individuals to monitor and detect potential security threats and escalate as necessary and to support secure and uninterrupted business operations of an organisation through the implementation of cyber security mechanisms and the application of cyber security procedures and controls. At the end, you will have the opportunity to achieve a Level 3 certificate in Cyber Security Practices.

Entry Requirement

The Skills Bootcamp is designed for adults aged 19 years of age, or older. Either be in work, self-employed, recently unemployed or returning to work after a break. Be a UK resident for at least 3 consecutive years and have the right to work in the UK.

How much does a Skills Bootcamp Cost?
There may be no cost involved if you are unemployed or employed and looking for a career change. Large employers looking to upskill their staff will contribute 30% of the cost for their staff members and small or medium-sized employers will contribute 10%.

There is no specific prior knowledge a learner must have for this qualification. However, learners may find it helpful if they’ve already achieved a Level 2 Digital Skills or Information Technology qualification.

Appropriate vocational competence is also supportive of your application.

A short discussion will also be required (in-person or over the telephone) to ensure this Skills Bootcamp is suitable for your needs.

This allows individuals to consolidate their knowledge of Cyber Security and learn practical skills which can be used to seek work or increase responsibilities within a current role.
