Focusing on the major disciplines within engineering, the learner will gain the knowledge and hand skills needed to develop or build on a successful career in engineering and advanced manufacturing. They are also vital components of Intermediate and Advanced Engineering apprenticeships.
This level is ideal if you're a school leaver with some engineering knowledge and experience, or require some engineering skills in your role. Students will develop their understanding and practical experience of specific engineering technologies.
You will learn the knowledge and hands on skills needed to develop or build on a successful career in electrical and manufacturing engineering which will develop your understanding and practical experience of specific engineering technologies.
The course will cover the following engineering subjects:
- Working in engineering
- Principles of engineering technology
- Principles of manufacturing technology
- Machining components using turning techniques
- Constructing, testing and fault finding electronic circuits
- Welding by MIG process
- Four GCSEs at grade 3 or above, including English and maths or completion of our Future Pathways course.
During the course learners will do a series of practical based activities and create a portfolio of evidence, they will be observed and assessed throughout the year.
There will also be some online exams and written tests to complete.
Successful completion of this course would allow you to progress to Level 3 Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Diploma or T Level in Manufacturing, Process and Control or a related apprenticeship/employment.
