Electric vehicles are becoming increasingly popular with benefits for both the driver and the planet - with the Electric vehicle industry booming and set to grow, there are many opportunities for a rewarding career in this sector!
The Electric Vehicles Skills Bootcamp has been designed for technicians looking to upskill and learn how to diagnose, remove, refit and repair Hybrid and Electrical Vehicle components. This course will cover learning to safely use a suitable multimeter, insulation tester, oscilloscope, specialist safety equipment, and more.
This course will be delivered within our dedicated, fully equipped, Electric Vehicle Centre and incorporates a nationally recognised qualification.
Hybrid and Electrical Vehicle system training is designed for garage technicians who are required to service, repair, diagnose and fix faults on Hybrid and Electric Vehicles. You will achieve an IMI Level 2 and Level 3 Award in Electric/Hybrid Vehicle System Repair and Replacement.
This course aims to enable participants to:
- Be able to work safely on Hybrid and Electric Vehicles
- Know Hybrid and Electric Vehicles operating concepts and working fundamentals
- Use a range of tools on Hybrid and Electric Vehicles systems and components
- Carry out Hybrid and Electric Vehicles system repair
- Test and diagnose Hybrid and Electric Vehicles systems
- Diagnose Faulty Hybrid and Electric Vehicles components
- Remove and refit safe and live Hybrid and Electric Vehicles components
- Understand charging infrastructure and vehicle charging systems (including charge cables)
- Understand fault setting criteria, common faults (and codes) and how to perform data analysis to resolve complex faults
- Diagnose and repair battery and battery management systems (BMS) faults
- Gain a deep understanding of motors, generators and inverters, including test, measurement and diagnosis
To be eligible for enrolment on this course you must:
- Be aged 19 years of age, or older.
- Either be in work, self-employed, unemployed or returning to work after a break.
- Be a UK resident for at least 3 consecutive years and have the right to work in the UK.
- Have a level 2 automotive qualification to be accepted on this course.
How much does a Skills Bootcamp Cost?
There may be no cost involved if you are unemployed or employed and looking for a career change. If you are an employer looking to upskill your current staff you can utilise this Skills Bootcamp at a considerably reduced cost - small or medium-sized employers will contribute 10% of the cost of the training and large employers will be asked for a 30% contribution.
Completion of practical assessment, under observation.
- Progression onto the Level 4 IMI Award in the Diagnosis, Testing and Repair of Electric/Hybrid vehicles and Components.
- Routes into employment, or increased responsibilities with a current role.
