Course Introduction

This BTEC qualification helps learners develop the technical skills, knowledge, professional attitudes, and interpersonal skills required for success in their job role and career advancement.

An Adult Care Manager's role is to provide guidance and motivation to teams to bring about positive changes in the lives of individuals who are facing physical, practical, social, emotional, or intellectual challenges. They are the leader of the care team and are responsible for developing and implementing a culture based on values at the service or unit level.

To complete the qualification learners must achieve a minimum of 91 credits. There are 76 credits in the mandatory units and a further 15 credits must be obtained from optional units. There needs to be a minimum of 56 credits achieved at level 5 or above.

  • Health & Wellbeing in Adult Care
  • Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Human Rights
  • Health & Safety in Adult Care
  • Continuous Professional Development in Adult Care
  • Personal Wellbeing
  • To register for this qualification, learners are required to have completed a minimum level 3 qualification and have a management position in a suitable setting. 
  • Learners must be over 18 years old and have a minimum Level 2 Functional Skills qualification in English and maths.

Learners are supported by an occupational business trainer using an e-portfolio platform who will meet with them regularly. They will use a variety of different assessment methods to assess units holistically for this qualification which may include:

  • Taught sessions
  • Group work
  • Observation of practice by the business trainer or senior workplace colleague
  • Reflective practice
  • Observation and discussion around work products
  • Case studies
  • Professional discussion
  • This BTEC qualification will equip learners to hold the role of Registered Manager. All Registered Managers will need to hold this qualification unless they can justify to CQC inspectors a different qualification route. 

    Achievement of a level 5 qualification can also support progression to higher education.
