Course Introduction

This one-year course provides a solid foundation in the travel industry preparing you for an apprenticeship, employment or higher level study. You will learn in several ways including individual and group assignments, practical application of classroom-based teaching and industry-related projects, and visits to various travel and tourism attractions.

You will cover an exciting range of subjects including the customer experience, the UK travel and tourism industry, destinations, visitor attractions, package holidays and airports and airlines.

You will cover an exciting range of subjects including:

  • The UK Travel and Tourism Sector
  • Understanding Customer Service in Travel and Tourism
  • Understanding the Nature and Effects of World Travel
  • Development of the UK Travel and Tourism Sector
  • Developing Customer Service Skills in Travel and Tourism
  • UK Tourism Destinations
  • European Holiday Destinations
  • Worldwide Holiday Destinations
  • Holiday Planning
  • Preparing for Employment in Travel and Tourism
  • Exploring Airports and Airlines

 You will learn in several different ways including individual and group assignments, practical application of classroom-based teaching and industry-related projects, together with visits to a range of travel and tourism attractions.

To enhance employment opportunities the course may also have additional qualifications built into the programme.

  • Four GCSEs at grade 3 or above, including English and maths or completion of our Future Pathways course.

The course is continuously assessed through assignments, projects and case studies. You will develop a responsible and cooperative approach to working on your own and in groups.

The course uses practical activities, presentations and involvement with local businesses wherever possible.

Successful completion of this course would allow you to progress to Level 3 Travel and Tourism Diploma or a related apprenticeship/employment.

Students should aim for a merit or distinction grade to ensure progression.
