Course Introduction

This Skills Bootcamp dives deep into the fascinating world of early childhood development. You'll gain a strong foundation in the most important aspects, equipping you to nurture young minds.

This course will open doors to exciting career paths in the childcare industry. We have strong relationships with childcare providers in the local area and can support you with securing an interview – you will also receive CV and interviewing advice.  This Skills Bootcamp can fast-track you into an apprenticeship through the Accelerated Apprenticeship model, enabling you to become qualified in a shorter amount of time.

On completion of this course, you will also obtain a DBS Check, Food Hygiene Certificate and Paediatric First Aid Certificate, all of which will be a useful addition to your CV and enhance your application for positions in this rewarding sector!

We also run this Skills Bootcamp in the daytime - the daytime course is delivered three times a week for five weeks, every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9.30-2.30pm.

At Basingstoke College of Technology, we ensure you have the best possible experience. Our expert instructors and industry connections will guide you every step of the way.
  • The Skills Bootcamp is designed for adults aged 19 years of age, or older. 
  • You need to either be in work, self-employed, recently unemployed or returning to work after a break.
  • Be a UK resident for at least 3 consecutive years and have the right to work in the UK. 

How much does a Skills Bootcamp Cost? 

There may be no cost involved if you are unemployed or employed and looking for a career change. 
Large employers looking to upskill their staff will contribute 30% of the cost for their staff members and small or medium-sized employers will contribute 10%.
You will be required to achieve a pass result for both the Food Safety and Hygiene and Paediatric First Aid Test to receive the certificates.
Learners can progress straight into employment or gain a head start on an apprenticeship.  The Accelerated Apprenticeships model is designed to fast-track learners from this Skills Bootcamp onto a Level 3 Early Years Apprenticeship.

With further training, progression opportunities can include a Room Leader or a Senior Nursery Worker.
