This fully online adverse childhood experiences course will give you the skills needed to support children and young people affected by adverse experiences. You will gain insight into how to strengthen their resilience and empower them to overcome the challenges they face.
This qualification aims to:
- Focus on the study of ACEs
- Offer breadth and depth of study, incorporating a key core of knowledge.
- The objectives of this qualification are to enable the learner to:
- Explore childhood and family structures
- Explore ACEs and understand potential outcomes for children enduring ACEs
- Understand the role of the practitioner in supporting children impacted by ACEs
- Develop strategies to improve outcomes for children affected by ACEs.
This course has 3 Mandatory Units:
- Exploring childhood and family structures - In this unit learners will begin to explore the development of children and young people and different perspectives on childhood. The unit will also cover the role of the family and different family structures.
- Introduction to adverse childhood experiences - This unit introduces learners to adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and potential outcomes for children impacted by ACEs. The unit also covers the role of the practitioner in supporting children.
- Developing strategies to improve outcomes for children affected by adverse childhood experiences - In this unit learners will consider the role of the practitioner in supporting children impacted by adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) using strategies to develop resilience and improve outcomes.
This qualification will provide learners with an opportunity to develop an understanding of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) relevant to their current or future roles and will equip them with a basic understanding of techniques for preventing and addressing ACEs in practice.
To complete this distance learning course at no charge you will need to match the following entry criteria:
- Are a resident of the EEU (European Economic Area) and have been for at least 3 years
- Will be undertaking your learning within England
- Are aged 19 or above
- There are no formal entry requirements for this course but you will need to have a good standard of English and maths
- Studying via distance learning means you can choose when and where you study.
- We recommended allowing a minimum of 5 to 6 hours per week to study this course in your own time.
- You will be given submission dates for each unit to help you stay on track and complete within the allocated timeframe of 6 months.
- This course is delivered through online assessments and online learning materials.
