Course Introduction

This TQUK qualification aims to explore possible causes that could explain why people behave as they do, helping you develop your understanding and deal with these situations appropriately. You will look at the impact and possible justification for these behaviours, considering what the root cause could be. This course will equip you with proactive strategies to support positive behaviour.

This course is made of of 5 units that cover the following criteria:
  • Understand how to recognise that an individual's behaviour has potential to intensify
  • Understand key terms associated to behaviour that challenges. 
  • Be able to recognise challenging behaviour in others. 
  • Understand why an individual may behave in a challenging way. 
  • Understand legislation and support relevant to behaviour that challenges
  • Understand legislation relevant to behaviour that challenges. 
  • Understand best practice relevant to behaviour that challenges. 
  • Understand support available for individuals impacted by behaviour that challenges. 
  • Understand the role of communication in supporting individuals who demonstrate behaviour that challenges. 
  • Understand how to manage a situation when an individual is actibg in a challenging manner.
  • Understand how their own actions can impact upon an individual who is exhibiting challenging behaviour. 
  • Understand the consequences of challenging behaviour. 
  • Understand how to manage behaviour that challenges during an incident. 
  • Understand own role in providing support following an incident of challenging behaviour.
  • Understand how to encourage individuals to consider their behaviour after a challenging incident. 
  • Understand additional support available to those who exhibit challenging behaviour.

To complete this distance learning course at no charge you will need to match the following entry criteria:

  • Are a resident of the EEU (European Economic Area) and have been for at least 3 years
  • Will be undertaking your learning within England
  • Are aged 19 or above
  • There are no formal entry requirements for this course but you will need to have a good standard of English and maths

  • Studying via distance learning means you can choose when and where you study.
  • We recommended allowing a minimum of 5 to 6 hours per week to study this course in your own time.
  • You will be given submission dates for each unit to help you stay on track and complete within the allocated 6 months.
  • This course is delivered through online assessments and online learning materials. 
  • You are required to study the learning materials online and then answer knowledge-based assessments that confirm your understanding of the topics.
  • We encourage learners to reflect on their own experiences, work-based or personal and include these within their answers where relevant and suitable.
  • This is a level 2 qualification, answers should be formed in paragraphs and learners will be required to write in detail, using structured sentences demonstrating knowledge.
